Academic WorldQuest™ is a flagship youth education program of the national network of World Affairs Councils.  It is a team competition testing high school students’ knowledge of international affairs.  In the competition, four-person teams compete by answering multiple-choice questions divided into ten unique and engaging thematic categories.  The National Competition is supported by San Antonians Carlos and Malu Alvarez.

This year's competition will take place on February 12, 2020 from 9:00AM-3:00PM at the University of the Incarnate Word Student Engagement Center Ballroom. The competition will include lunch, snacks, and college information booths, as well as a tour of the UIW campus. 

This year, prizes for placing teams will include:

All expense paid trip to Washington D.C. to compete in the national competition (Grand Prize)
Job shadowing opportunities 
Local internships with prominent companies

Take advantage of early bird registration: $40/team of four students. Ends January 1, 2020! 

Regular registration: $50/team of four students.

Free for Title I schools.


Our Mission

The mission of the World Affairs Council of San Antonio is to promote public understanding of world affairs and United States foreign policy, and to enhance the ability of its citizens and future leaders to participate in a global community. We accomplish our mission by presenting a lecture series, holding receptions, organizing discussion groups, sponsoring educational outreach programs, and hosting deliberative sessions for young professionals.
