This May will feature the book Homelands: Four Friends, Two Countries, and the Fate of the Great Mexican-American Migration by Alfredo Corchado. This book merges the political and the personal, telling the story of the last great Mexican migration through the eyes of four friends from the 1970s to modern day. It is the narrative of the United States in a painful economic and political transition. Homelands is a must-read to understand the past and future of the immigrant story in the United States, and the role of Mexicans in shaping America's history.

Alfredo Corchado Jiménez is an award-winning Mexican-American journalist and author who has covered Mexico for many years, and was the Mexico City bureau chief of The Dallas Morning News. He specializes in covering the drug wars and the U.S.-Mexico border, writing stories on topics such as drug cartels and organized crime, corruption among police and government officials, and the spread of drug cartels into U.S. cities. He is a graduate of UTEP, and has reported from Mexico City, Washington, Philadelphia, Cuba, and more. He is the author of Midnight in Mexico and Homelands and as a native of Durango, Mexico proudly calls El Paso home.
