“Fake news” and “alternative facts” are just two terms that will forever be linked to the short time Sean Spicer served as the twenty-eighth White House Press Secretary, and as White House Communications Director under President Donald Trump in 2017.

In only six months as press secretary, Spicer garnered a reputation for tense exchanges with journalists in the briefing room. Spicer writes in "The Briefing: Politics, Press and the President”, of his first appearance on the job, “I don’t think it was the best start,” which ultimately set the tone for the rest of his time in the office.

Before Spicer made his mark as one of the most recognized staffers in the Trump administration, he built a decades-long career in Republican politics, as a House of Representatives communicator, Assistant U.S. Trade Representative, Republican National Committee chief strategist, and top advisor to presidential campaigns.

Spicer will join the World Affairs Council of San Antonio to discuss his new book, Leading America, and his experience as the former principal spokesman for the White House.
